Rogan painting: art of heart
Rogan is made up of boiled castor oil, then chalk powder and colours mixed with it. Artisan of Rogan Art put this Rogan paste on their palm and very skillfully paint it on the fabric as per design. The paste is thick and sticky, oily.
Artisan, applies the thick Rogan paste as per design, creating thread like structure. The lines or design is very thick and its need to press. When the artisans press it and open, they get the mirror image of the design.
Mirror image in Rogan work
Artisans choose most of freehand design in Rogan, because when they print it they get same design on the folded cloth. But in some designs like figures of birds, animals, humans, the mirror image of Rogan painting become partially inverted.
